Growing your own produce is made easy with The Little Veggie Patch Co's heirloom seeds. The Watermelon 'Bush Sugar Baby' seeds produce early yielding fruit on a compact vine. They grow up to 30cm in diameter and can be harvested once the fruit pulls easily off the vine, so you can enjoy quality produce from your garden. There are 20-25 seeds per packet and they grow harmoniously with Sweet Corn. Vegan and cruelty free.

They are passionate about the slow food movement and raising awareness about the origins of our produce. Their mission is to remind people to be more mindful about the foods they consume and to encourage them to grow fresh, better-tasting produce at home. Their range of heirloom seeds has now expanded to over 50 varieties. No matter whether you live in an apartment or a block of land, growing your own produce is made easier.

  • Soil: Prepare your soil so that it is free draining and moderately fertile. It will tolerate a number of soil types. Add compost as part of your preparation.
  • Soil pH Level: 6.5-7.0
  • Spacing: 1m
  • Position: Full sun with plenty of room to move. Position on the edge of your growing space, allowing it to creep away from your growing space, or set up a solid trellis structure to grow vertically.

How to Plant

Use a free-draining soil well integrated with compost or good quality potting mix when growing in pots. A good technique is to sow the seed, at 2-3cm in-depth, directly into small mounts of compost that will ensure adequate nutrition and draining. Keep well watered.
