Patchouli is helpful for those with vulnerable immune systems from being run down, overworked or overtired.
Blends well with: bergamot, black pepper, geranium, lavender, ginger, lemongrass, rose and ylang ylang.
Benefits:
- May help with eczema, acne and other skin issues.
- Calming and grounding properties.
- Great to use as a fixative in DIY perfumes and blends.
Diffuser: Add 6-8 drops to your diffuser.
Quick fix: A few deep inhalations from the bottle can help when you are at work, in the car or anytime you need a quick break.
Shower: Add 2-3 drops to the corner of the shower.
Bath: Add up to 5 drops to a dispersant such as oil, then add to the bath.
Topically: Mix 1 drop with 5ml carrier oil and apply to wrists, chest or back of the neck.
Hand or foot bath: Add 2 drops to a bowl of water to improve rough and calloused skin.
Compress: Add 2 drops to a bowl of water. For treating inflammation or to cool down, use cold to room temperature water. For aching tight muscles, use warm to hot water. Agitate a face washer in the water, wring out excess moisture, and apply the washer to the affected area. Repeat two or three times as the compress cools down or warms up.
Steam treatment: Add 2 drops to a bowl of steaming hot water. Place your face close to the bowl and cover the back of your head and bowl with a towel to trap the aromatic vapours. Keep eyes covered during treatment to avoid the risk of burns and scalding.
Pogostemon cablin (Patchouli Oil).
Is this suitable for use during pregnancy?
Use this oil with care. It is best used in a diffuser or diluted with a carrier oil (at a 1% ratio). Avoid using essential oils during the first trimester unless you are under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.
Is this suitable for children?
Essential oils are considered too strong for use on babies' skin (0-24 months) and can be overwhelming for their developing systems. When using in a diffuser, use fewer drops than you would for an adult (e.g. 2-3 drops).
Is this suitable to use around pets?
Use this oil with caution around pets. Never use it topically and store bottles out of reach. If you have any concerns, contact your vet.
Can this oil be ingested?
Essential oils should not be taken internally unless you have consulted with a health professional or aromatherapist first.
