Get heritage seeds and seeds kits at The Little Veggie Patch Co at Flora & Fauna. Their journey began in 2008 when they installed raised garden beds and larger edible gardens in people's homes. They are passionate about the slow food movement and raising awareness about the origins of our produce. Their mission is to remind people to be more mindful about the foods they consume and to encourage them to grow fresh, better-tasting produce at home. Their range of heirloom seeds has now expanded to over 50 varieties. No matter whether you live in an apartment or a block of land, growing your own produce is made easier.

Use the Peat Plugs

  1. Soak in lukewarm water for 5-10 minutes until the plugs enlarge to roughly 5 times their size
  2. Sow seeds into the plugs at their recommended depth
  3. Keep a mini greenhouse and make sure to water as they develop
  4. Once the seedlings are roughly 5-10cm in size and conditions are suitable, transplant to the veggie patch

Convert the tube into a propagating pot

Each tube will make two propagating pots. The container is printed with non-toxic aqueous inks.

  1. Cut down the long tube so that it stands approximately 10cm tall
  2. Poke a few holes in the base of each to allow drainage
  3. Fill up with a good quality organic potting mix
  4. Sow seeds at their recommended depth
  5. Keep them well watered in a mini greenhouse
  6. Once the seedlings are 5-10cm tall and conditions are suitable, plant the pot directly into the veggie patch
