Why Celebrate Galentine's Day?

Officially speaking, Galentine's Day isn't technically a holiday — but it is taking the world by storm. More and more, we're seeing people make their own swing on things, like friendmas, friendsgiving etc, so Valentine's Day is no exception. Traditionally, Valentine's Day has been very much about romantic dates, flowers and chocolates, but in recent years, people have decided to honour love in all it's forms and that includes, friendships. 

Galentine's Day is generally celebrated the day before Valentine's, so the 13th of February, however you can really choose to celebrate it whenever all the girls are free and can get together. Interestingly, Galentine's Day came from a TV series, Parks & Recreation, where character Leslie Knope gathers her closest girlfriends for a brunch full of waffles and love. She says, “every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast style.” “Ladies celebrating ladies.” We're totally here for it!

So why celebrate Galentine's Day? Asides from it being the perfect excuse to get your friends together for a day packed full of fun, it's the chance to celebrate female bonding and empowerment.

Whilst there's no rule that says you have to buy gifts, it's a way to show your appreciation to your friends.
