Spread kindness with our charity partner, Where Pigs Fly

Apr 02, 2024by Your F&F Team

Here at F&F, we’re all about caring for furry friends and doing our bit for a kinder planet.

If you haven’t already heard, Where Pigs Fly is a beautiful charity who rescue and care for farmed animals that have been abused or abandoned. They’ve created a sanctuary dedicated to the shelter and care of animals in need - like lovely Lola the alpaca who was rescued from a tiny pen and Valentine, a rescued bobby calf who you’ll meet below.

These gorgeous animals get another chance at living a happy, healthy life thanks to Where Pigs Fly – and we couldn’t be happier to support them.

That’s why, this April, we’re proudly donating $1 for every order to Where Pigs Fly. So, when you shop this month, you’ll help spread kindness for animals in need, like Lola and Valentine. Your support is especially helpful at the moment as the lack of rain means extra winter feed is needed for these lovely animals.

Ready to meet the wonderful Where Pigs Fly team? Read on to explore the sanctuary, get to know the animals (cuteness coming your way…), and meet the founders Debbie and Jamie – to find out how your support makes an impact, and how you can get involved (hint, you can even visit Lola and Valentine at the sanctuary in Lower Hunter Valley NSW).

Get to Know Where Pigs Fly

Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary was founded in 2014, they are celebrating their 10-year anniversary this year! Their mission? Driven by a philosophy that all animals should be treated with compassion, they focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for farmed animals from cruelty, abuse, and neglect.

At their sanctuary, the animals enjoy 100 acres of open pasture, long-term care, and companionship. Their average monthly costs are $10,000 which includes vets, feed, and medications - and with no government funding, they rely 100% on donations.

So far, Debbie and Jamie have rescued and cared for hundreds of farm animals and educated thousands of people about animal agriculture. And they continue to inspire change – something we're proud to get behind.

Now, let's meet the animals!

Want to meet Lola the alpaca, Valentine the bobby calf, and the other adorable animals for yourself? You can visit the sanctuary for yourself. Here, you'll find all the happy animals roaming around – like Shirley the angora goat, Annie the horse, Oink and Barbara the cows, Abigail the chicken, Dustin, Molly and Percy the pigs, Gary the sheep, Darcy the rescue dog and of course, our lovely Lola and Valentine. Smiling from ear to ear, yet?!

Our team had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful sanctuary and getting up close with all the animals. It's a wonderful day out for the whole family, where you can learn more and play with the animals.

Hear From Where Pigs Fly Founders, Debbie & Jamie

How did the sanctuary come about? In 2014, we left our Sydney life behind and bought 100 acre property in the Hunter Valley and set up Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary. We had no farm experience at all, but we decided to do something.

Being non-profit how you manage expenses? Regular tax-deductible donations ensure our animals receive the care and treatment they need. We can't do it without the support of our community. F&F have supported us from the very start. We are appreciative of their financial support but also their shared belief in a kinder world for all.
