The Urban Composter is a new easy way to compost. It's a food scrap bin that you can put under your sink to pop your food scraps in but that's not all. You then accelerate the composting process with a vegan citrus-based spray with effective micro-organisms. The liquid can be used as a drain cleaner or, diluted, it is great for the garden. The food scraps can be buried or put into an outdoor compost.
- City Composter Capacity: 8 litres
- Bucket Dimensions: 23cm diameter at top(base is smaller) and 27cm high
The Urban Composter City uses anaerobic composting to ferment your kitchen scraps right in the bucket. This process will minimise foul odours and flies. Simply cut up your food scraps into small pieces, spray with Urban Composter Compost Accelerator Spray and close the lid. Drain the bucket every few days to release excess moisture from the fermentation process. Use this liquid, diluted, to add to your favourite plants as a nutritious liquid fertiliser.
Luke Gregory designed the Urban Composter and wanted an easy way to deal with food scraps so they don't go into landfill. He tried Bokashi but he found it hard to manage plus he discovered it attracts mice and rodents. From our perspective Bokashi isn't vegan as there are animal by-products in the Bokashi mix, so we are delighted Luke has created a vegan composting kit.

Great product at great priceBy: Carol on 8 January 2019Love this Urban compost kit. So easy to use. No awful smell and love the fact that I can drain off the juices for my plants or put down my drains to keep my sewage system healthy. Very light so can put on my bench to add the scraps or drain fluids. No mess like when I used composting bin and bag in my kitchen, which I had to frequently take out to the outside compost bin -usually at night. It came earlier than expected so just in time for Xmas.
ExcellentBy: Mel on 5 January 2019This has been something my household has needed for a long time. We've always had a compost bin. But one that doesn't smell and decomposes fast is even better. Worth every dollar
Leaking tap can be fixed!By: Gemma on 9 December 2018I love my urban composter and would give it five stars if not for the leaky tap which meant that for the first week, it created little puddles in the cupboard under the sink. I read on their FAQ that some of the urban composters have issues with leaking from where the tap attaches to bucket and that you can fix this with plumbers tape. I did just this and found the problem was resolved immediately. I’m a little annoyed that the company didn’t rectify this fault or even just include a small amount of plumbers tape with the order. Anyway, now that that is no longer an issue, I’m collecting lots of the juice and my plants are absolutely loving it! I find the compost breaks down faster if you chop up your scraps very finely or you can even pop your scraps through the food processor before putting in the bucket. PROS: small, neat. Fits under sink easily. Compost doesn’t smell bad. Juice is quite pleasant smelling (like balsamic vinegar). CONS: You’ll need plumbers tape for the tap.
Great productBy: Rebecca on 27 November 2018Love this product. I was just putting my scraps straight into my compost bin but now I add them to the composter first for the juice which my plants love.
Urban Composter City Starter KitBy: Rita Valvasori on 3 October 2018A little bit more time has to be spent chopping up the peels and things, which is something we never did before. However it seems to be working OK. Certainly contains more items and we don't have to use a plastic bag. Still don't get a lot of liquid out of the bottom to put back into my balcony plants. The bucket looks good and fits under the sink.
