Ten Tips to Protect Your Skin this Winter

Jun 14, 2016by Julie - F&F

It's important to protect your skin anytime of the year but, in Winter, your skin can become dry, dull and lacklustre. Lips can become dry and chapped and wind, rain and the cold can impact your skin. Here is our guide to protecting your skin at Winter.

1. Use a serum to nourish

A serum, or oil, is really important to nourishing your skin and feeding your skin. We advise a serum every morning before you put on your moisturiser. We have some beautiful organic and vegan serums from Mukti, La Mav, Eco. Black Chicken Remedies, Atom and more. Many of our serums are designed for certain skin types such as pigmentation, dry skin, mature skin and more. If you want to brighten your skin La Mav's Brightening Vitamin C Serum is perfect. Eco. has a beautiful range of very affordable serums and oils. And Mukti's Age Defiance Range of Serums is beautiful. Shop all our serums here and you can filter by skin type and brand.

2. Make sure you use a moisturiser to protect your skin

Many people skip moisturisers in summer because of the heat but you really need to use one in Winter to protect your skin from the elements. Pick a moisturiser for your skin type whether that is dry, sensitive, oily etc. but do use one. I'd also recommend you have an everyday balm to hand if you need extra protection for your skin. You can shop all our moisturisers here and we have some amazing moisturisers from Acure, Dr Hauschka, Neal's Yard Remedies, La Mav, Weleda, Mukti and more. Shop our moisturisers here. A beautiful vegan balm which is perfect to have with you everyday is Passionate Skincare's Vegan Skin Food. Great for your face, hands, cuticles, lips and feet.

3. Use an overnight nourishing treatment

Help your skin replenish itself overnight with an overnight treatment. Argan Oil is a beautiful oil that you can use on your face and hair and leave on overnight. Great for mature skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Also La Mav have designed a range of overnight serums to help your skin depending on its needs.

4. Protect Your Lips

What happens every Winter - your lips go dry! So look after them with a lip balm and nourish them at night with a gorgeous balm. Passionate Skin Care is a great balm to nourish your lips but we also have beautiful balms from Delicious Skin and a beautiful range of vegan lip balms from Hurraw. Shop everything lips here

5. Don't forget your hair

Keep those locks luscious with regular intensive treatments. As mentioned earlier argan oil is a wonderful overnight treatment. But I'd also recommend Desert Shadow's Intensive Treatments. Your hair will feel amazing!

6. Hands need to be looked after

7. Moisturiser and exfoliate your body

Just because you are covering up doesn't mean you can let that body go. You still need to buff and polish! We have a great range of coffee scrubs and organic body scrubs that will exfoliate, brush away dead skin and keep your body smooth under the winter layers. Shop body scrubs here. In addition we have some really hydrating body creams like Acure's Hydrating Cream. Shop all body lotion here

8. Keep on top of those feet

Make sure you don't forget your feet for six months. Keep them exfoliated, hydrated and with a slick of polish even if it's only a nude colour. Shop lotion for feet here. All of our natural, vegan polishes can be found here.

9. Self Tan for a Glow

Once you've buffed you might want a glow. We have a great range of natural, organic and vegan self tan products from Eco Tan. Eco Tan's Cacao Firming Mousse is a hit with us. Shop all self tan here.
