Being socially isolated is actually a really good time to transition to a natural deodorant and give your underarms some time to detox (in the comfort of your own home!) Have you ever thought about switching out your regular antiperspirant for an all-natural deodorant? We understand it’s sometimes easier to stick to what you know – but here are some facts:
- Humans are meant to sweat! It’s a natural bodily function that helps with detoxification and temperature control. Plus, sweat itself doesn’t smell – it’s actually the bacteria that grows in the underarm area that causes you to smell.
- Traditional antiperspirants contain aluminium, which essentially plugs your sweat glands to prevent you from sweating. However, it also prevents the body from expelling any potentially harmful toxins. There are also concerns that aluminium may be linked to Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.
- Deodorants are designed to neutralise body odour and keep you smelling fresh. They mask what needs to naturally happen.
THE DETOX PERIOD
Keeping all of the above in mind, it can actually take your body around 2-4 weeks to adapt to a natural deodorant after you’ve ‘pulled the plug’ on antiperspirant (so to speak!). Your underarms will work in overdrive to sweat out excess waste and toxins in the body.
