Packing Boxes

There are a few things to consider when packing, before getting into the knitty gritty of it all. The first thing you should think about doing, is a garage sale. We're certain that at least one thing in your current house, you didn't even know you had! Don't give yourself more work to do in your new home by unpacking more than you need to. In this case, less is best! Garage sales are a great way to rehome items that you no longer use and anything that is left over you can donate.

Now that that's out of the way, have you thought about what you're going to pack your home items in? Seek out some second hand moving boxes or see if you can collect some used cardboard boxes from local shops. Matt from our team has just recently moved houses and he was lucky to pick up some used boxes from our warehouse. For your delicates, wrap using towels or blankets instead of bubble wrap!

Meal Prep

Matt's top tip is to label your boxes! This helps the movers put them in the right location. He also said you should label what's in the box too. This makes unpacking faster and helps you find where everything is. So if you're getting hungry and need some cutlery, you can grab it straight away.

This leads us to our next tip — meal prep! It's very easy to fall in the trap of getting takeout, to save you time when unpacking. This however, can create unnecessary plastic waste and of course isn't doing an favours for your back pocket. So get organised and prepare and freeze some meals. Our Lock & Lock Reusable Storage Containers, come in a range of different sizes and are microwave and freezer safe. Plus, pre prepared meals means you don't have to mess up the kitchen... just yet!
