THE DETOX PERIOD
Keeping all of the above in mind, it can actually take your body around 2-4 weeks to adapt to a natural deodorant after you’ve ‘pulled the plug’ on antiperspirant (so to speak!). Your underarms will work in overdrive to sweat out excess waste and toxins in the body.
This is a good thing – embrace the sweat!
“I think now is the perfect time to transition. It took me around 3 months to get comfortable with using a natural deodorant – at the time I was a bit stinky and sweated more and I still worked in the world of corporate. Now I barely use deodorant and my body seems to self-regulate.” – Julie, our wonderful Chief Experience Officer.
Let’s make one thing clear – natural deodorants work. Here at Flora & Fauna, we have a great range of natural deodorants for women, men and teenagers. Before we jump into some recommended products, let’s take a look at why they work.
Many natural deodorants contain four simple elements that work together in perfect harmony:
- An oil or butter as a moisturising base (coconut oil, shea butter)
- An absorbent ingredient to minimise sweat (cornstarch or arrowroot)
- An antibacterial ingredient to minimise bacterial growth (tea tree oil, sodium bicarbonate)
- Essential oils to make you smell good! (lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint)
