Does Your Council Provide Rebates For Eco Friendly Products?

Does Your Council Provide Rebates For Eco Friendly Products?

12th January 2021
By: Justine - F&F

This topic is an interesting one that was prompted by one of our lovely customers here at F&F, who informed us that the City of Parramatta Council is currently offering rebates for reusable nappies and sanitary products. There are lots of councils taking a step in the right (green) direction by encouraging residents to use more eco-friendly products like solar panels, composters, rainwater tanks and more. If you're not sure if your council is doing anything, it never hurts to ask!

City of Parramatta Council Offering Rebates on Reusable Nappies and Sanitary Products

If you're a Parramatta resident you can get a rebate of up to $150 with proof of purchase of reusable nappies and other reusable baby products like swim nappies, reusable inner liners for nappies, reusable wipes, wet bags, and reusable nursing breast pads.

You can also get a $100 rebate for sanitary products like sanitary pads, sanitary cups, leak-proof period underwear and wet bags.

Penrith City Council also offers a similar rebate scheme.

Randwick City Council Gives Rebates for Sustainable Household Equipment

Randwick Council is offering rebates for rooftop solar, solar batteries and solar health checks as part of Community Sustainable, a program that supports houses, units and businesses in the Randwick local government area to implement energy and water-saving initiatives. Properties in Randwick can receive up to $3,000 in sustainability rebates. There are lots of councils who offer similar rebates, so definitely check with yours and save some money!

Victorian Energy Upgrade Program

This government energy efficiency program gives Victorian households and businesses the chance to receive rebates or discounts on energy-saving products like LED lights, hot water systems, heating and cooling, showerheads and more.

This year (2021), energy retailers will help reduce Victoria’s greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 6.5 million tonnes through energy efficiency.

Compost and Worm Farm Rebates

We were so excited to see so many councils providing rebates for composters and worm farms. You can significantly decrease your household waste by composting and divert organic matter from landfill.

Live in an apartment and don't have anywhere to dump your compost bin? No sweat, ShareWaste will help you find someone in your community to donate your compost to! How cool!
