We’re a values-based business and everything we do is a reflection of our vision and values. With this being said, we’re proud to tell you 5 things you might not know about F&F.
1. We’re a BCorp.
If you’re not sure what a BCorp is, it’s a group of businesses dedicated to making conscious and responsible decisions in every aspect of their operations. These responsible decisions aim to minimise the impact we have on the environment and assist in solving social problems. We became a BCorp business in 2017, and were one of the first in Australia to do so. Some other incredible BCorps include Patagonia, Preserve & Kester Black.
To be accepted as a BCorp, you must pass their rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The process involves evaluating how our practices impact our employees, our community, the environment, and our customers. The process of getting certified is not an easy or quick process; it took around 6 months to get approved and that was quick! We are absolutely dedicated to our mission and values, so this was an accreditation we felt we definitely needed and are very proud of.

2. We send all orders in minimal packaging (unless you specify otherwise)
We send all of our orders plastic-free and have done for years. Extra plastic packaging is something we feel is unnecessary and the reality is that it will eventually end up in landfill. When you order with us, your order will automatically be placed as ‘minimal packaging’. For minimal packaging, we don’t include any extra paper or packing peanuts. If your order is fragile, we secure it with just enough recycled paper to ensure it arrives to you in one piece.
We use boxes made from recycled paper and use recycled kraft paper. For fragile items, we use a bubble wrap alternative made from recycled paper to ensure your items stay protected. For international orders, we include packing peanuts to add extra protection. These are made from cornstarch and dissolve when placed in water. We don’t buy these peanuts, only reuse the ones from our suppliers.
When you shop with us, you can feel confident knowing that your order will arrive with no extra plastic packaging, just beautiful recycled materials. If you’ve ever received an order from us, you will also know that our team handwrites gorgeous notes on your order. We write these on the inside of your box to avoid any unnecessary, additional paper or cardboard being used in getting your order on its way.

3. We partner with TerraCycle to offer a brilliant recycling program for our customers.
It’s often hard to recycle things like beauty tubes, bottles, makeup packaging etc, and they often find their way into landfill. As a responsible retailer, we don't like this one bit and we had to find a solution.
Through our TerraCycle program, any plastic beauty containers bought at Flora & Fauna can be returned to us, where we will collate, separate and send them to TerraCycle to be recycled. Plus, in exchange for returning your bottles and packaging to us, we will credit your F&F account with AU $10 for being planet-friendly and helping our environment. It’s an initiative many of our customers use and we’re thrilled so many of you do.

4. We now have a store in North Rocks, NSW
We opened our store in July 2019. It was an incredible day. You can visit our store to shop our entire range plus we also have bulk refill available in store. Open Monday to Saturday.
5. We Support Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary
Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary (WPF) is a not for profit registered charity based in the Lower Hunter Valley in NSW. We love their dedication to helping and rescuing neglected animals; something we are truly passionate about here at F&F!
WPF has two main missions; they rescue and care for farm animals that have been abused or abandoned, and provide them with forever homes. They also help educate people to understand where their food comes from.
We are thrilled to partner with this amazing organisation and highly recommend a day trip down to one of their open days. Where Pigs Fly host open days every few months where you can visit all of their animals. It does fill up fast so we suggest booking in advance.
