ANSC-DISH

For washing clothes: Grate down and add a tablespoon to your front loader and top loader directly to the load. Can be used in hot and cold water. Also great for hand washing where you can also apply directly to clothes.

For dishwashing: Grate down and add approximately a tablespoon to hot water. Stir vigorously to dissolve & create bubbles. Wash & rinse dishes as you would with any other dishwashing liquid. You can also apply directly to your dishes.

To make a cleaning gel: Add equal portions of boiling water to grated down soap in a container and let sit for at least an hour to allow the flakes to dissolve. This thick paste is great for washing kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Use as you would a usual household cleaner.

The cardboard box can usually be recycled in kerbside recycling. Check with your local council if they will take it and what criteria they have for recycling it. See our recycling 101 blog post for more information.

    Does the Job

This soap can get a little slimy but I've found that it stores well using an air-drying soap holder. It smells nice and it doesn't dry out my skin as I'm constantly washing my hands/dishes.

    Alright

Cleans dishes well, however, is hard to keep and gets slimy with time despite keeping dry between uses

    Not for me. At all.

Bought when That Redhouse Multipurpose Soap was out of stock but this didn’t come close to replacing it for me. Wanted to use for dishwashing but that definitely wasn’t happening with direct use (swiping brush on soap and washing) as the bar become sticky and messy so tried grating it and adding to water for washing but this was just as unsuccessful - just got milky water which was completely ineffective at cleaning and left a strange, slimy residue on everything. I’ve taken the remainder to the laundry and hope it might work for hand washing. Now have several Redhouse soaps in my basket and plan to keep stocked up!

I was hoping it'd be better than some other brands have tried but it was pretty average. Might work better grated but I don't have the time for that.

    My go to dish soap

This has completely replaced dish soap for me - I have been using this specific soap for at least a couple years now and I will continue to buy this product. I cut it up and put portions in a soap bag at the kitchen sink, this lasts me months before I need a new one. I've found this soap bar to be best bang for buck.

    Lasts so long!

I am on my second bar now and I will continue to buy. Lasts for ages, has no artificial smell, plastic free and cleans the dishes really well with no residue left behind. Only slight downside is it seems to lose its lather the more you use it. Other than that, what's not to love!

    Hmmm!

Bought for washing up but I think I'll keep it for hand washing clothes as I wasn't impressed. Nice smell though. Tried grating into hot water, ended up with milky water. Looked and worked as well as liquid castile soap. Tried soap on cloth method but found still left residue in sink and on glassware if not rinsed and dried quickly. Sorry, going back to ecover liquid.

    Doesn't dry skin out

I love washing up with this, doesn't dry my hands out and cleans better than my gel cleaner. I also use this for laundry and it keeps my clothes soft and actually removes dirt!

Great, don't really like grating it.

I think this bar worked really well, and lasted around 3 months for my family of 2. We do our dishes every night, so lasting for approx 81 days was great for us. when we grated it and made it into a paste that took a long time, then I placed it into a bottle, but it hardened, so I had to melt it down with more hot water. By the end it was pretty diluted, and I needed to pump it a lot to get enough to do my dishes. on the plus side, it did last a lot longer than the other soaps I tried, probably because I watered it down so much.
