Julie founded Flora & Fauna, having spent 20+ years working in retail. Julie wanted to create a better business, a business that was conscious of its impact on the world and one that contributes positively to society and drives change for the better.
For too long we haven't known enough about how products are produced, what they're made of and who makes them. Retailers have not focused on their own supply chains and the waste produced. Julie set out to change that creating a retailer focused on driving change through Flora & Fauna and also in the industry as a whole.
We source the best ethical, eco, organic and vegan products. We have a huge range with over 10,000 products, 340+ brands, 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
We began as a concept in July 2014 and launched our online store in November of that year. We launched with 30 brands and around 500 products, all beauty and skincare. Now we are a lot bigger and have added home, fashion, food, and health to the mix.
Julie's husband Tom quickly joined the team and worked on the Operations and Finance side of the business. Since 2014 the team has grown and we have an inspirational and dedicated team that drive the business forward every day.
We started our journey in Galston, NSW and stayed there until late 2018. In Galston is Rosie the pig, F&F's ambassador. We grew out of Galston so moved to North Rocks - sadly we couldn't take Rosie with us but she remains happy and full of carrots in Galston - she is still the owner of Julie and Tom! Rosie reminds us every day how smart pigs and animals are, and how we should cherish and respect them. She inspires us to do better, every single day.
In July 2016 we moved to plastic-free shipping packaging. We've saved over 30 tonnes of plastic by doing this.
In June 2017 we launched our recycling program.
In June 2017 we also started working with Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary, a stunning farm sanctuary in NSW.
In November 2017 we became a BCorp and were one of the first retailers in Australia to achieve this.
We moved warehouse in September 2018 to a much larger place to accommodate the speed at which we were growing.
In June 2019 we carbon offset all our orders, our operations and even our team's cars.
In July 2019 we opened our first physical store in North Rocks. We had over 1000 people turn up on launch day!
Our new website launched in October 2019.
In July 2020 we launched Take It Back, an industry wide initiative to reduce plastic packaging used in shipping orders.
In July 2021 Flora & Fauna joined BWX to have more backing in driving the future of conscious shopping.
