Today, Friday, March 19th is National Ride 2 School Day! Jodie's (from our team) kids love biking or scooting to school when they can! Their school has heaps of bike racks that are always full. On Ride2School Day they have a little breakfast for the kids and have lots of obstacle courses and activities set up for the kids to go on. They always have a couple of local bike police there too to talk about road safety. The kids love it! We think this is a fun way to encourage physical activity and of course reduce carbon emissions.
What is National Ride 2 School Day?
National Ride2School Day is all about promoting physical activity in schools and communities around Australia to encourage healthy lifestyles.
Kids can choose to bike, rollerblade, skateboard, scooter or even walk to school, it's all about getting your body moving and most importantly— having fun!
How Can You Participate?
Besides encouraging your kids to bike to school on a regular basis, you can register your school on The Bicycle Network website to receive free resources for your kids and/or students. Follow these steps below:
Start entering HandsUp! counts to track how your students are travelling to school.
Utilise the engagement booklet for ideas on how to promote active travel at your school.
Register for and celebrate National Ride2School Day on Friday 19 March 2021.
