Greenleaf's 100% hemp, eco-friendly, bags work to store and extend the life of your vegetables keeping them crisp and fresh days after being put in the fridge.

We came across these bags a while ago and have been testing them and really love them. They do exactly what they say they do and your veggies really do stay fresh for longer. The video on them is a must watch.

What are they and why do they work?

Keeping your fruit and vegetables in a plastic bag is the perfect environment for bacterial growth which increases the rate of decay, and slimyness, of the produce you've just bought. It effectively suffocates in the plastic bag and begins to sweat, wilt, lose it's sweet flavour and tastes, and looks, pretty horrible. The Greenleaf Produce Enhancer changes this; it prevents the need for single use plastic produce bags and maintains the freshness of your veggies in the fridge by allowing them to breathe and rehydrate. The Produce Enhancer is made from unbleached, undyed 100% pure hemp; you wet the bag and the hemp fibres hold moisture so your produce can absorb moisture from the bag to rehydrate. It also means the vegetables are protected from the dehydrating environment inside the frost-free refrigerator. This process protects the shelf life of your produce by 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the quality of the produce and conditions inside your fridge. Altogether, meaning that you are eating healthy, flavoursome, sweet, living fresh food that has the greatest capacity to nourish your body and care for your health.

What can be kept in the Fresh Produce Enhancer?

  • Leafy Greens – celery, kale, lettuce, collards, spinach, silver beet, chard, bok choy
  • Herbs – coriander, mint, basil, rocket, chives, shallots, dill, fennel, parsley
  • Vegetables – asparagus, carrots, beetroots, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, brussel sprouts, cabbage, radishes, rhubarb and
  • Vegetables that are really fruits - cucumber, tomatoes, capsicum, squash and zucchini, and more!

How to use?

Wet the Fresh Produce Enhancer, put your produce in & then into the refrigerator. When you have eaten it all, wash and repeat! Be proud of yourself for choosing a made-to-last, re-usable, sustainable product and take notice of how your leafy greens and vegetables stay healthy, flavoursome and aromatic in a Fresh Produce Enhancer - naturally.

Which veggies go together?

Mix and match produce in the Fresh Produce Enhancer according to weight. That is, we don’t put our baby spinach leaves with carrots! We put hard things together, like carrots and beetroots, and similar things together like cauliflower and broccoli, tall things together, like celery and kale and we keep our salad leaves together in a bag all on their own.

How to Re-Use?

Machine wash in cold water, do not bleach, line dry in the sun. The Fresh Produce Enhancer is made from 100% pure, natural Hemp, a very durable fibre, and to prevent fraying it has double stitched side seams and is made to last.
