What is Mica?
Mica is an incredible sparkling ingredient that you will find in pretty much anything that gives you that great glow! Think eye shadows, illuminators and body shimmers. It is a naturally forming mineral found in stone like granite or even crystals. Widely used in the cosmetic industry, the high demand for mica has sadly seen many countries turn to child labour sparking a huge issue particularly in India. These unregulated and dangerous corporations see some children as young as 5 receiving a wage of 50 cents or less for a day.
Jojoba knew it was their duty as a responsible skincare brand to not support this awful industry. So, they turned to an ethically sourced mica enterprise to formulate the Jojoba glow. Here, they replenish the ground once they have extracted the mica, and don't support child labour, providing a fair wage for adults.
