Purpose & Ethics
Our purpose is to change the way we shop by educating and only offering products that are vegan, ethically sourced and cruelty free. We aim to solve current problems facing our planet by sourcing and creating cruelty free and minimal impact products that are ethically made and by operating with as small a footprint on the environment as possible. We offer a recycling solution so that 100% of products sold at Flora & Fauna are recyclable and are committed to our community and transparently giving back.
Our values are to be authentic, transparent, be customer obsessed and to always make responsible decisions beneficial for us and the planet.
We began as a concept in July 2014 and launched our online store in November of that year. We launched with 30 brands and around 500 products, all beauty and skin care. Now we are quite a bit bigger than that and have added home, fashion and health to the mix.
Julie founded Flora & Fauna having spent 20+ years working in retail. Julie's husband Tom quickly joined the team and he runs the Finance and Operations side of the business. Since 2014 the team has grown and we have an inspirational, dedicated team who drive the business forward everyday.
We are based in Galston NSW and we are very passionate about living ethically, our environment and natural alternatives. There aren't enough ethical products, and truly ethical businesses, so we've set about changing that so you have great choices that are carefully sourced, tried and tested. We like to think we think like you and we give you the best experience possible.
We seek to source the best ethical, eco, organic and vegan skin care, make up, home, fashion and lifestyle products out there whether it is from Australia or beyond. We have a huge range with over 4500 products, and 200+ brands, and nothing is tested on animals. Not now, not ever. Our resident brand ambassador is Rosie, one very smart, and beautiful, pig. She reminds us everyday how smart pigs, and animals, are and how we should cherish and respect them. She inspires us to do better everyday.
We are very focused on making responsible decisions, our environment and leading the way as a retailer. We believe we have to make changes to help our planet and ourselves and we are constantly improving what we do. We are very proud of our partnerships with Sea Shepherd, Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary and TerraCycle.
In 2016 we removed the use of plastic from our orders so now our boxes are sent naked, using paper tape. We have saved many. many tonnes of plastic with this one move. You may receive packing peanuts in your order. These are made from corn starch and are biodegradable and they dissolve in water. We prefer to use recycled paper shreddies but we do use these on international and fragile orders. However in our 2+ years of operation we have never actually purchased any of these, we re-use ones we receive from suppliers to keep waste moving across the planet. All our boxes are recycled and the shreddies are made from recycled waste paper. In June 2017 we launched our partnership with TerraCycle so everything at Flora & Fauna is now recyclable.
