Bamboo Environmental Toothbrush in a Soft bristle available online at Flora & Fauna.
The Environmental Toothbrush is the solution to the 30 million toothbrushes disposed of each year in Australia. Invented by a Brisbane dentist, The Environmental Toothbrush is a simple solution. Made from bamboo, a natural cellulose fibre, they are biodegradable, environmentally sustainable, and do not pollute the environment. The amazing growth and self-renewing ability of bamboo means that deforestation is not necessary either. Even the packaging is biodegradable and they are fair trade.
What types are available?
That is an easy one to answer - Although most dentists will only recommend a SOFT bristle we have found that approx 45% of Australians use a Medium toothbrush... So the toothbrush is available in both Soft and Medium in the Adult size and Soft in the Child size.
The handle is made of MOSO bamboo, an environmentally sustainable timber. Bamboo is technically considered a member of the grass family. It is the fastest growing plant on earth, and incredibly abundant. The bamboo is cultivated for between three to five years, and then harvested. It re-generates itself naturally, with minimal rain and without the need for harmful pesticides. In fact, by harvesting and using the bamboo, we help to control unwanted spread into agricultural and natural forest areas. Our bamboo is grown by many local farmers (NOT PLANTATION).
The bamboo is heat treated to carbonise the surface of the bamboo, giving it a quality finish and good service life. The carbonisation finishing process provides water resistance and prevents the growth of microbes (bacteria and moulds) during normal use.
The bristles are made from a BPA FREE polymer resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability.
We recommend you rinse and dry your toothbrush after use to keep it clean.
The toothbrush can be put in a composter to biodegrade so you can return to earth. Ideally the bristles are pulled out and thrown away seperately as these don't break down as well as the wood.
Beautiful BrushBy: Narelle on 20 April 2018Am loving this brush as I have fine hair which tangles easily. Brush goes through wet hair & tangles with no effort. Also love how it massages scalp. Best brush I have had in years.
slightly too hard for meBy: Adonia on 3 March 2018bristle are not soft, more of medium and im not used to it, the quality is fine but just the hardness doesnt suit me
Best environmentally friendly toothbrushBy: Nicole Thomas on 3 March 2018I love my toothbrush and I’ll continue to buy it over and over. There’s definitely a great feeling in knowing that every time I brush my teeth that’s one less piece of plastic not being attributed to the billions of tonnes of plastic out there already in our environment.
Great brush!By: Isabelle on 1 March 2018I've tried lots of bamboo toothbrushes now and this one is definitely my favourite! The bristles are nice and soft but it's got a larger head than most brushes which I like! Great price too.
Not so softBy: Marissa on 26 February 2018I purchased the soft bristle toothbrush, but was disappointed when I felt how hard and stiff the bristles were! They hurt my gums when brushing. I love using bamboo brushes but this brand wasn't my style
