Bamboo Environmental Toothbrush in a Medium bristle available online at Flora & Fauna.
The Environmental Toothbrush is the solution to the 30 million toothbrushes disposed of each year in Australia. Invented by a Brisbane dentist, The Environmental Toothbrush is a simple solution. Made from bamboo, a natural cellulose fibre, they are biodegradable, environmentally sustainable, and do not pollute the environment. The amazing growth and self-renewing ability of bamboo means that deforestation is not necessary either. Even the packaging is biodegradable and they are fair trade.
What types are available?
That is an easy one to answer - Although most dentists will only recommend a SOFT bristle we have found that approx 45% of Australians use a Medium toothbrush... So the toothbrush is available in both Soft and Medium in the Adult size and Soft in the Child size.
The handle is made of MOSO bamboo, an environmentally sustainable timber. Bamboo is technically considered a member of the grass family. It is the fastest growing plant on earth, and incredibly abundant. The bamboo is cultivated for between three to five years, and then harvested. It re-generates itself naturally, with minimal rain and without the need for harmful pesticides. In fact, by harvesting and using the bamboo, we help to control unwanted spread into agricultural and natural forest areas. Our bamboo is grown by many local farmers (NOT PLANTATION).
The bamboo is heat treated to carbonise the surface of the bamboo, giving it a quality finish and good service life. The carbonisation finishing process provides water resistance and prevents the growth of microbes (bacteria and moulds) during normal use.
The bristles are made from a BPA FREE polymer resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability.
We recommend you rinse and dry your toothbrush after use to keep it clean.
The toothbrush can be put in a composter to biodegrade so you can return to earth. Ideally the bristles are pulled out and thrown away seperately as these don't break down as well as the wood.
Fantastic if you like a harder bristleBy: Anonymous on 23 February 2018I absolutely love my new toothbrush and will never buy plastic again! Next time I will try the soft bristles though as I found the medium to be quite tough, but the clean they give is fantastic!
FantasticBy: Sarah on 23 February 2018Previously purchased a soft bamboo toothbrush and it was so soft, almost like a child’s toothbrush. Purchased this one a little while later and absolutely love it.! Feels like like a ‘normal’ toothbrush
5/5!By: Anonymous on 22 February 2018My partner and I ditched our plastic toothbrushes for these and we are both very impressed with them! Definitely worth the switch over for both the environment and no compromise on quality :)
