Tasi Travels is an Australian brand combining minimalism, practicality and style. Tasi was designed with minimalism in mind, meaning that you can go away with five or six items and that's all you need for your trip so you can pack light.
Tasi is very focused on sustainable and ethical production. All pieces are designed and made in Australia and they are made to order so when we order they are made just for us meaning no unnecessary waste. Of course we have them in stock for you.
The fabric used is a beautiful textile called Tencel, which is part of the Lyocell family and one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics available. Tencel is regenerated from sustainably grown wood cellulose from the eucalyptus tree. These eucalyptus trees are grown on marginal land unsuitable for food crops are are grown with a minimum of water, using sustainable forestry initiatives. The cellulose is treated in a closed loop system, meaning no waste is produced and the solvents are recycled with a recovery rate of 99.5%. Compared to other fabrics this is pretty amazing.
Tencel is also very breathable. The smooth surface of the fibre absorbs and releases moisture efficiently, supporting the body's natural thermal regulation. It is an exceptionally soft fabric, with a smooth and cool feeling against the skin. Tencel is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk (and cruelty free) and cooler than linen, making it perfect for travel.
Tencel fabric carries the Oeko Tex 100 certification, an international standard developed in 1992 to certify that it contains no harmful substances. Tencel also has been awarded the European Community Eco-label flower for products and services with reduced environmental impacts.
Tasi was founded by Jessica Abraham in 2017. Tasi Travels is Jess's second business, having co-founded and run independent publication Tidal Magazine prior to launching Tasi. Jess has been active in environmental conservation since her early teens, particularly in the space of marine debris and plastic pollution.
Each Tasi piece is handmade in house by Tasi's seamstress, Charlie Mackay. Charlie is local to the Sunshine Coast and the owner of menswear brand Tyranus Apparel.
