EnsoPet Composting Unit for Pet Poop

The EnsoPet, or Dog Toilet, as you might know it, is a great way to deal with your pet's waste that doesn't involve it going in a plastic bag and ending up in general waste, or worse the oceans.

The EnsoPet composting unit is 'buried' in your garden, away from veggie patches and edible plants. Once your pet has pooped grab the waste with the tongs, put it in the EnsoPet and sprinkle with the starter mix. Use daily and the waste will breakdown into the soil around it.

The unit is comprised of 4 identical sections of moulded recycled plastic, and a lid. The 4 sections easily clip together to create a bottomless cylinder.   Once assembled it measures 35cm wide at the base, 40cm high and 18.5 cm wide at the top/ lid. It is an inground composter, only the lid and opening is above the ground so is discreet and requires little space in the garden or lawn. The side sections have been specifically designed with holes to allow access for moisture and worms.

Use the EnsoPet Unit with the EnsoPet Starter Mix. This is a mixture of wheat, sawdust, minerals, and micro-organisms. These micro-organisms accelerate the breakdown of the waste, eliminate smell and help remediate any pathogens in your pet waste, and ultimately contribute to healthier soil.

    The unit contains:

    • The easy to assemble recycled plastic composter
    • A 1kg bag of EnsoPet Starter
    • A pair of tongs

Bokashi make composting easy at home. Use the Bokashi kit and mix to start composting in the kitchen or the Enso Pet to start disposing of and composting dog poop in the garden. Bokashi is now vegan too - we haven't previously been able to stock Bokashi as the mix wasn't vegan, thankfully it now is. Bokashi is Australian Owned.

    Installing EnsoPet

    1. Assembling the EnsoPet composter is very easy. The 4 sides simply clip together creating a bottomless cylinder. The lid fits neatly on top of this cylinder.
    2. Select a spot in your garden away from edible plants and phosphorus sensitive native plants
    3. Dig a hole 40cm deep and 40cm wide.
    4. Place the EnsoPet composter into the hole, so that only the lid is sitting above ground.
    5. Fill in the soil around the outside of the EnsoPet composter.
    6. Place the tongs near the EnsoPet composter to aid in waste collection.

    Using Your EnsoPet

    1. Using the tongs pick up your pet’s waste and drop it into the EnsoPet composter.
    2. Lightly sprinkle EnsoPet starter on top of the waste (approximately 20 grams per 100 grams of pet waste).
    3. Repeat this process as required. For best results add smaller amounts often (it is better to add the waste daily rather than weekly).
    4. Composting requires a moist environment. Rain will enter your EnsoPet through the slots at the sides enabling this moist environment.
    5. Do not let the EnsoPet dry out, water EnsoPet in conjunction with watering your garden.
    6. The micro-organisms in the EnsoPet Starter ensure a rapid breakdown of the waste, because of this continuous cycle of composting the EnsoPet composter will take many months or may never completely fill.
    7. These micro-organisms also help remediate any pathogens in your pet waste, whilst simultaneously enriching and rebuilding the soil at a microbial level.
