This week we’re excited to announce the launch of our konjac sponges from Green + Kind. If you're new to the concept of using a konjac sponge, you’re probably curious to know what it is and how it works.

We’re aware that you may not know the amazing benefits of this alternative sponge, and that’s why we’ve some answered some common questions to help educate you with everything you need to know about konjac sponges.

What is a konjac sponge and why should I use one?

Derived from the konjac plant root, a konjac sponge is is a natural face and body cleansing sponge. Its soft texture makes it a gentle alternative to other sponges and allows for a thorough clean. It works to remove oil and dirt from the surface of your skin by gently exfoliating away bacteria.

How do I choose the right konjac sponge for me?

When it comes to skincare, we’re aware there’s no one size fits all approach. The team behind Green + Kind have thoughtfully developed their range of konjac sponges with different active ingredients to suit the needs of your individual skin type. Available in 6 different varieties, you’re sure to find a sponge that’s suitable for you. The range includes sponges suitable for normal skin (pure), oily & blemished skin (charcoal), antioxidant rich for maturing skin (green tea), sensitive, tired & mature skin (french pink clay), dry & mature skin (rose) and hydrating and purifying skin (aloe).

How do I use a konjac sponge?

When you first receive your konjac sponge, you’ll notice that it has a hard feel to it. Before you use it, you’ll need to soak it in warm water for a few minutes until it has fully softened and expanded. Once it has softened, squeeze out the excess water and apply your cleanser. Use the sponge in a upward, circular motion and gently exfoliate, focusing on your problem areas. You can also use your konjac sponge on your whole body in the shower.

How do I clean my konjac sponge?

After each use, it’s important to clean your konjac sponge. This process is extremely easy and can be done by simply rinsing your sponge under cool water. From there, gently squeeze the excess water out by placing it between your palms, ensuring not to wring or twist it as this can cause damage. Once you’ve squeezed out all excess water, hang your sponge in a well-ventilated area and allow to dry. We don’t recommend allowing it to dry in direct sunlight. If you’re unable to find a suitable place to hang it, you can place it in a container and store in your fridge until you use it next.

How often do I need to replace my konjac sponge?

With proper care and use, it is recommended to replace your konjac sponge every 4 - 6 weeks. One way to tell if you need a new sponge is if it has stopped expanding completely and begins to fall apart.

What are the benefits of using a konjac sponge?

Konjac sponges are a great addition to your skincare regime as they offer a wide variety of benefits. They’re extremely gentle on your skin and allow for a deeper clean compared to using your hands & cleanser alone. Additionally, they can also help to remove stubborn makeup and leave your skin feeling more vibrant & refreshed. As a result, you may begin to experience an improvement in your skin texture and blemishes.
